Fishing
For anglers big and small.
The fish who call these waters home
The park’s waters are teeming with a wide variety of fish species across this heathy ecosystem. From the more elusive to the most prolific, it is often the ones that get away that teach us the most.
Largemouth Bass
Aggressive feeders; Largemouths are best caught near cover with crankbaits, plastics or topwater lures.
Smallmouth Bass
Often found in moving water and rocky areas; Smallmouths hit well on small jigs and spinnerbaits.
Blue Catfish
Among the largest catfish here; they prefer deep channels and respond well to cut bait.
Channel Catfish
Abundant and active; catfish can be caught at night with stink bait, chicken liver or other strong-smelling bait.
Black & White Crappie
Excellent table fare; Crappie congregate around brush piles and bite on live minnows or jigs.
Sunfish & other Panfish
Eager biters; these kid-favorites are often found near docks or shallow weeds with worms.
