Park rules & policies

Welcome to Cherokee Nation Sallisaw Creek Park. These rules are in place to 
ensure safety, enjoyment, and protection of natural resources for all guests. Failure to 
follow rules may result in cancellation and/or removal. 

Reservations & check-in/out

  • Check-in: 3pm
  • Check-out: 10am
  • Early arrivals or late departures require prior approval.
  • Maximum occupancy limits per RV site and cabin must be observed.
  • Subleasing or transferring reservations is prohibited.
  • No tent camping allowed in the park.
  • Pop-up shelters may be used on concrete pads.

Quiet hours & conduct

  • Quiet hours: 11pm to 7am. Gate opens one hour before sunrise.
  • Loud music and disruptive behavior are prohibited during quiet hours.
  • Disorderly conduct, intoxication, or illegal activity may result in removal without refund.
  • Respect other guests’ privacy and enjoyment at all times.

Vehicle & parking rules

  • Observe posted speed limits.
  • Park only in designated areas.
  • No parking on grass, roadways, or in vacant sites.
  • RVs must fit entirely within designated site pads.
  • Vehicle repairs, oil changes, or maintenance are prohibited.

RV site guidelines

  • RVs must be in good working order. Sewer connections must use approved hoses and fittings.
  • Discharge of gray or black water onto the ground is strictly prohibited.
  • Generators are prohibited. 

Cabin use guidelines

  • Cabins are smoke-free.
  • Furniture must not be moved outdoors or rearranged within the cabin
  • Guests are responsible for damage or excessive cleaning.
  • No park property may be removed from cabins.
  • Do not attach decorations, tarps, or lines to cabin structures.

Pets

  • Pets must be leashed at all times (maximum 6 feet)
  • Owners must clean up after pets immediately.
  • Pets may not be left unattended outside.
  • Only service animals are allowed in cabins.

Fire safety

  • Fires permitted only in designated fire rings or grills.
  • Do not move fire rings.
  • No unattended fires.
  • Firewood must comply with tribal or state regulations, as applicable.
  • Fallen branches may be picked up and used in fire rings, but trees may not be cut or chopped down.
  • Fire bans will be strictly enforced.
  • Fireworks are prohibited.

Boating & boat ramp rules

  • Boat ramp use is first-come, first-served unless otherwise posted.
  • Prepare vessels in staging areas — do not block ramp lanes.
  • All boat operators must comply with tribal and/or state boating laws.
  • Boat trailers are only allowed in designated parking spots.
  • No swimming in the boat ramp area.
  • Secure boats properly when docked.
  • Fuel spills must be reported to the park office immediately.

Swimming & water safety

  • No designated swimming areas.
  • Swim at your own risk.
  • No lifeguard on duty.

Natural resource protection

  • Do not damage trees, vegetation, or wildlife habitat.
  • Cutting or removing live vegetation is prohibited.
  • Feeding wildlife is prohibited.
  • Dispose of trash in designated receptacles.

Trail use

  • All motorized vehicles must stay on roads and are prohibited on trails.
  • All dogs must be leashed.
  • No bicycles on trails.
  • Horse trails are day use only. No camping overnight.
  • Negative Coggins papers are required for all horses entering the park and must be produced upon request.
  • Horses have right of way over hikers.
  • Hike at your own risk.
  • Ride at your own risk.

Hunting & fishing

  • The fishing pond is catch-and-release only.
  • No glass containers at pond.
  • Guests must comply with all applicable tribal, state, and federal hunting and fishing requirements.
  • No firearm hunting.
  • Archery hunting is only permitted in designated areas and pursuant to applicable regulations.

Trash & waste disposal

  • Bag all trash securely.
  • Place trash only in designated trash cans.
  • Hazardous materials may not be disposed of onsite.
  • Guests are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Prohibited items & activities

  • Firearms and weapons must comply with tribal and state law.
  • Illegal drugs are prohibited.
  • Alcohol may be consumed responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Commercial activity prohibited without prior approval.
  • Drone use must comply with applicable laws.

Safety & emergency procedures

  • In emergencies, call 911.
  • Notify security immediately after contacting emergency services.
  • Follow instructions from security.
  • Severe weather shelters are identified on park maps.

Right to refuse service

  • Management reserves the right to refuse service, evict guests without refund, and modify rules as needed for safety.

Acceptance of rules

  • By entering or staying at the park, guests agree to comply with all posted rules and applicable laws.
